If you're like me, you love time on the water. Swimming, boating, or just sitting on the dock. No matter what I'm happiest in the forest and the water.
We live surrounded by forests which is great, but not so great for the water lover in me. I'm grateful to say, however, that there are many local state parks that feature beautiful lakes. This lake in particular, is a family tradition.
My great-great-great-grandpa helped to found High Falls State Park. Partially because of this, and partially because it was nearby, my family has always boated on the lake behind the High Falls Damn. I had grown up in a bass boat fishing in the lake and small alcoves leading into the lake. I had not, until lately, paddle boarded there.
My husband and I had kayaked and paddle boarded in several other spots, and I'm happy to finally have High Falls under our belt.
Located in Jackson County Georgia, the State Park has many activities for the family--including hiking (which I will eventually cover).
Paddle boarding is a core exercise, requiring balance. I'm a fairly clumsy person, so I was happy to see that I didn't have to work too hard not to fall off. Believe me, if my clumsy ass can handle paddle boarding--anyone reading this can too.

The cost for two people, for two hours of paddle boarding, kayaking etc--was $30....not bad right?? It's generally $10 an hour for individuals.
Are you thinking about paddle boarding now? At High Falls or elsewhere? If so...let us know!
