Hiking to Georgia's cave waterfall is no easy task, but worth the effort!

Thinking of taking a hike....
Raven Cliff Falls is located near Helen GA and is a favorite hike of the area.
“I touch the sky when my knees hit the ground.”
I wouldn't recommend this hike for anyone who has small children, as this is an out and back trail that, due to pathway erosion, has many exposed roots, rocks, and slick mud. Despite the pathway obstructions, the hike is a 4.8 mile out and back trail--not something easy for our smaller family members.
The elevation changes several times throughout the hike, but doesn't change drastically until the final leg of the hike. At the final part, where the waterfall is located, the hiking trail becomes extremely steep and will require careful footing. The waterfall is located about 2.5 miles into the hike--but do not be deceived by the steep rock face--remember, it's a cave waterfall! You're not done yet!
Scale the rock face on the right hand side, careful of the loose rock surrounding the spillway (the pathway erosion has made this the natural path of rain water). About 100 feet up you will find the falls tucked between two HUGE rocks. Absolutely stunning. There is a small reflection pool at the base of the falls--only about five feet deep at it's deepest. The falls continues down to the left and down to the stream below. If you want to get closer to the actual falls, beware of the slippery rocks and current--these small streams can be deceptively strong.
Final Notes
Overall the trail is rated as moderate due to the length, and pathway obstacles that you encounter along the way. There are a number of small waterfalls along the way for you to enjoy--as well as many steep drop offs that are a hazard to wandering feet. Its a dog friendly trail, but getting up the falls may be trickery with smaller dogs or dogs that are not adept at climbing.
