This is Halloween: All the Lights!

Writer's picture: Rebecca BrockRebecca Brock

This is a short and simple post, because these lights say it all! Since our house is in the Historic District, we must adhere to many long set neighborhood traditions. One of those, is the annual Halloween extravaganza! Each year, the downtown and historic neighborhood have a huge trick or treat. My neighbors claim that over 500 trick or treaters come around on Halloween night. As a longtime Halloween fan, and someone who has never had trick or treaters anywhere that she's lived, this is amazing! I can hardly wait!

Our front porch is decked out and ready for little goblins to come calling! We are also hosting a big Halloween party with our friends and family. We will have a professional actor jumping out of bushes, real tarot card readings, and of course lots of spooky goodies for guests!

Honestly, what could be a better way to spend Halloween than in a 100 year old house in the South's Halloween Mecca? Nothing in my opinion. I've even asked off work for that day so I can prepare. Also, my work does a big Halloween thing as well--but you aren't required to attend. I have worked the past three Halloweens and I'm not working this one! Besides, there's going to be a LOT of traffic on Halloween so if I am trying to get home at 6pm I probably won't be able to get to my house lol.

This pallet pumpkin is amazing! The former home owners left it and we have made ready use of it! I draped net lights over it to give it a little extra umf!

Inside, the blue and purple lights give the foyer a really eerie vibe. Also it ties in well to my Gothic decorations in the rest of the house. The hall lights also are on a dimmer, which can make the house super romantic, glamorous, or spooky! It just depends on what setting you put them on! I also used a spider web cloth, a sheer cloth, another set of net lights, and a skeleton to make the eerie display beside our piano! The 70 year old piano fits beautifully here in our spooky house!

I'm so happy to have my house all spooky and scary for the holidays. For the past two years I haven't really gotten to decorate for Halloween, celebrate Halloween, or enjoy the season. Work, moving, weddings, etc got in the way. I've missed getting to enjoy a pumpkin spice latte early in the morning, or curling up to watch a spooky movie with some apple ale!

Now I've got a very detailed Fall bucket list to make sure I fully enjoy the season! One of the items on my list was to light the whole house for Halloween! Mission accomplished!

I hope you enjoyed checking out our spooky lights!
