Decorating with Old Photographs

Writer's picture: Rebecca BrockRebecca Brock

If you are like me, you love a good antique store. The relics of the past can add a quint touch to your home! I have many antiques in our home, and they add a unique vibrancy to a room.

However, there is one unusual type of antique that we have brought into our decorating style.

Old photographs. Have you ever spotted abandoned photos in antique shops? Often times the unfamiliar faces are a bit creepy to some. However for me the faces provide a personal glimpse into the past. To make the past more human appeals to me greatly.

But how can you use these in your home?

I use them for a variety of decorating needs. For Halloween they are especially useful. They fit especially well with my Gothic style!

This one fits so well with my witch theme!!

They also fit well with my rustic style. I place them within my decorating 'clusters'. Remember to cluster knick-knacks together to keep the house from looking cluttered!

I move the photos around a lot, especially since I'm still working the final product of our house lol. But I recommend using them as accents to give your home an interesting twist!

Where to find them?

As previously stated, most antique stores will carry a few of these here and there. However, beware overpricing! You should only pay a few bucks for an old photo at most! If the price is five dollars or more don't buy it!

I hope you enjoyed this post! Leave a comment or send me a message and share your decorating ideas involving old photos!
