My Favorite Pregnancy Cravings

Pregnancy is a weird time when it comes to food. Things that we once loved are all of a sudden our worst enemy. Even the thought of that chocolate lava cake is enough to make us puke. Fortunately the aversions don't last forever, and aren't the only part of our relationship with food. Pregnancy cravings are real man, and they are powerful stuff! Ever dipped a pickle into peanut butter and think it's the most grommet shit you've ever had? Welcome to pregnancy.
While pickles have become one of my aversions, here are a few of my absolute favorite pregnancy cravings!
1) Grilled Cheese
Omg, I don't think I've had grilled cheese in years, but once I became pregnant the craving just hit me like a ton of bricks. I once ate four grilled cheese sandwiches in a day...and I was happy as a lark. Serious gourmet shit!
2) Mashed Potatoes
Instant potatoes, homemade mashed potatoes, mashed potatoes all the way around. I don't think I've ever eaten so many potatoes in my life. Honestly, during my first trimester mashed potatoes were one of those bland foods that my stomach could handle. Plus potatoes are extra tasty!
3) Whole Fruit Popsicles
Lord yes, the black cherry and lime ones are my absolute favorite! I can eat these things all day until they are gone. The popsicles help with the hot weather and with dehydration from the nausea.
4) Airhead Candy
I haven't had airhead candy since I was a kid. Once again, those pesky pregnancy cravings dredged up another childhood favorite. Now I can eat an entire bag of the candy if I wanted to.
5) Cheese-Its
Man, these are delicious on a normal day, but while pregnant these little golden squares are straight up from heaven.
6) Sugar Covered Strawberries
Chop up a few ripe strawberries and add a little sugar and BOOM, you've got a fantastic pregnancy treat!
7) Lemons and Lemon Water
Lemons are one of the few things that really help my nausea. If you see me these days I'm either nibbling on a ripe lemon, or drinking water with lemon juice. I have to be careful not to consume too many lemons as this can lead to the erosion of enamel on teeth as well as upset stomach. So far I'm not doing a good job at resisting the fantastic fruit.
8) Orange Juice
Maybe the citrus is just my pregnancy craving. I don't really know. But orange juice has become a morning must, and a lunch must....and a middle of the night must. I just can't get enough of orange juice!!
My cravings list is pretty mild compared to many of my friends. Honestly, I think my craving's list is small, mainly due to the nausea that I'm still fighting. My cravings also seem to change on a near weekly basis, which makes things difficult for my husband who often has to get my cravings for me. My mother on the other hand craved watermelon the entire pregnancy, so that made it easy for my dad. Just buy 10 watermelons on your way home and you're good...for like a day. Consequently, I hate watermelon.
